Anne-Marie Willis is a design writer, editor, educator and activist. As a Director of Team D/E/S Anne-Marie has worked as a sustainability consultant and researcher on major design projects for more than a decade. Before this, she was co-founder and assistant director of the Eco-Design Foundation in Sydney, Australia, a non-profit organisation that undertook pioneering projects in sustainable design. Anne-Marie gained an MA honours with the Sydney University Medal in 1987 and has taught at University of Sydney, Monash University and UNSW. As a consultant to design projects she also draws on extensive experience as a researcher, editor and writer of many acclaimed publications. Her research interests extend across design, architecture, visual culture and cultural theory, having held lecturing positions at the University of Sydney, Monash University, and the University of New South Wales. She is the author of numerous papers, articles and three major books. She has acted as environmental consultant for design and construction projects for clients including Brambles, Denton Corker Marshall architects, Ryder SJPH architects, Sydney Olympic Co-Ordination Authority, Interior Directions, Australian Building Energy Council, Resource NSW, Bankstown City Council, researching and advising on low impact materials, environmental life cycle assessment, energy conservation and waste minimisation. Anne-Marie is co-founder and editor of and the international refereed journal, Design Philosophy Papers. This is an electronic and print journal established in 2003 with the aim of developing an understanding of design as a world-shaping force that needs to be engaged by a diversity of thinkers. She is also editor of Design Philosophy Politics, a joint project with the Human-Computer Interaction program at Indiana University, USA. |
